Shrewsbury Town proudly supporting Ashley Cain

7 May 2024

Shrewsbury Town proudly waved off Ashley Cain this morning as he continues his incredible test of endurance to raise money in memory of his baby daughter.

The former Coventry, Luton and Mansfield winger is travelling between Land's End and John O' Groats - not once but three times!

Ashley is currently undertaking a 900-mile run. He will then travel the distance with a 925-mile cycle swiftly followed by a 950-mile kayak sea crossing.

He has taken on the challenge in memory of his eight-month-old daughter Azaylia, who died from a rare form of leukaemia in April 2021.

The 33-year-old has already made it to Shrewsbury on foot and today set off from the Croud Meadow to continue his journey on to Malpas.

Ashley was joined on the run this morning by Will Charman, from Hinstock.

Will's daughter Phoebe-Rose, who is four, is currently waiting for the all-clear having been diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021.

Ashley has previously taken part in many extreme fitness challenges in his daughter's name, including a 1,000-mile race and several marathons.

He undertakes the challenges to raise money for research into childhood cancer and The Azaylia Foundation - the charity he launched in his daughter's memory.

Or you can attend a fundraising ball which is taking place on Saturday, August 3, at the Mercure Telford Centre Hotel.

On the night there will be a raffle and auction with lots of Shrewsbury Town prizes to be won!
